I think this happens a lot with (every) product that gets created, the first years people try to create quality, but over time the money-factor creeps in, the market gets bigger and saturated. The flooding of cheaper products slowly pushes the quality studios out, since they have a lower output and can’t kepp up with the rest. As a result, production-costs get trimmed down some more over the years, until there’s only a basic skeleton of rudimentary ‘story’ and movements left, which is good enough to get a release since the standard gets lowered every year. Once or twice a year we get a very ‘well-made’ hentai as a gift, but compare that to the titles that came out during the 90′s/00′s and you will weep.

Ona side note: I was happy when that H-anime ‘Seikou – to lose a virgin’ came out, it was fresh and funny. Although it had a very limited budget, the creators were trying to do something different in tone and art style. But all the people kept bitching about the ‘weird drawings’ and limited animation, so most of ‘em are not able to see the difference in quality. And only consumers can partially control the quality of a product, but honestly how many people do you know who still buy H-animes.
So i guess all the bad hentais we’re getting is what we deserve as a h-community ^^
